Choose the original and destination paper sizes, then enter the minimum margin required by your printer. Fit preserves the whole source page. Fill covers the available area and trims any overflow. The diagram shows the difference.
Two ratios, one decision
Divide available sheet width by source width and available sheet height by source height. Fit uses the smaller ratio; Fill uses the larger one. A4 to Letter at zero margin fits at about 94.07%. With a 5 mm margin on all sides, it fits at about 90.71%.
Use the scale only once
Apply the percentage as a custom scale in your printing application, with the correct destination paper selected. Do not add another Fit step afterwards. This tool assumes equal margins and a centered page; it does not inspect PDF content or communicate with your printer.
